Hey guys, for my first official post I thought I would write about what nature means to me. All my life, I have loved being outside. Whether it’s actually doing an activity, walking around, or just sitting and enjoying the view. It’s always been my go to when I need a minute to relax, unwind, to collect my thoughts, or just have fun! Nature is just so important to me (and to the world), and I think people take that for granted.

At the sake of sounding like a grumpy old woman, I don’t think kids today appreciate the outdoors enough! It’s free, it’s eye opening, and I think everyone should take advantage of what is literally outside their front door. Watching the birds flying from tree to tree, the squirrels rummaging around in the grass, or a colony of ants working together; it makes you realize that the world is so much bigger than you and your classes, work, or any obstacles you face.

Everyday I make sure to go outside and walk around for a bit. It helps me deal with the overbearing amount of work I have to do for classes. I try to walk to and from class every day, and always stop at the bridge on my way to and from home so that I can check if there are any turtles or fish out for me to see. Sometimes I’ll see other critters (like geese, cranes/herons, or ducks), but sometimes none of them are around and I still find myself standing there watching the water or the trees move with the breeze. I think it’s relaxing just to feel the world around us, and let go of our cell phones and worries; even if it’s only for a few minutes.

I thought I’d share some picture I’ve taken while at the bridge I mentioned. Can you spot the turtle?

Below are a few more pictures. The turtle in this picture is much easier to see than the last one, I guess he was just less shy! You can also see some fish swimming around in the shallow water.

Nature isn’t just animals and plants. It’s everything around you that has been untouched by humans. It’s the sunset and sunrise you ogle at, the mountains you climb, the air you breathe, and so much more. Mother nature is amazing at creating such beautiful things. I mean, just look at these pictures.

I guess what I want you to get out of this post is that the next time you’re outside, just take a moment to appreciate the world around you.

Until next time!
