Hey guys, how’s it going? So today I was thinking back on my time on the farm, specifically about riding the horses around the property. So I thought I’d do some digging on horseback riding in Indiana! I think it’d be a cool date idea, a fun family activity, or just a nice get away adventure! So below are a few places you can find around Indiana that’ll allow you to experience hopping into a saddle.

First up is Schooner Valley Stables! This place is located in Nashville, IN and has a whopping 689 views on TripAdvisor—with 92% saying it’s excellent! Here you can take a tour through the woods while riding on your very own horse. And the best part is that they have no age limit, so it’s fun for the whole family!

Not gonna lie, I added this one because it’s located in Santa Clause, IN! Here we have Santa’s Stables, which is super close to holiday world (go figure, right?). This place even offers pony rides for the youngins! Who doesn’t love ponies, am I right?

Located in Royal center, IN is a sweet little gym known as the Crooked Creek Trails. Something cool about this one? It’s actually open all year round! They have over 150 Acres of Scenic Trails, Woods, Ponds, and Wildlife too! Oh and guess what? More ponies!
I’d hate to be up the creek without a horse….
Okay so now that you have a couple options to choose from (and mind you, there are many more places in Indiana you can go!) it’s that time in the blog that I have to do my due diligence as a horse and animal lover.
Above all, you need to be safe and respectful of the horses!
Yes, I want you to have fun, but we all need to understand that these are living creatures—not mechanical rides. Although horses at professional trails are highly trained for all types of people, they still have a mind of their own. So just be aware of your surroundings and pay close attention to your instructor!
Now, ever wonder why cowboys wear cowboy boots? There’s actually a reason behind it (no, it’s not just a fashion statement). Not only are the boots sturdy in case your horse steps on your foot (OUCH!), the heel is meant to prevent your foot from sliding through the stirrup too far!
As someone who has ridden multiple horses before, I can promise that the cowboy boots help! I once rode a horse bareback in a swimsuit while barefoot….fun times, though I do not recommend! Please don’t try that at home.
If you’re hesitant to be around horses, I recommend easing into things and just visiting some petting zoos where you can get close to them without having to hop on for a ride. Just being able to feed a horse or pet it is fun too! There’s nothing to be afraid of, I mean…

… just look at that smile!
If any of you decide to go on an adventure and meet some horses, let me know how it turned out and what your favorite parts of the trip were!
Ya’ll come back now, hear?
